Commencement

I haven't written in a while. I kind of miss writing in here.

So today, I woke up and went to class as usual. As I stepped into the classroom, I was greeted with the chatter of 30 Filipino students and some unfamiliar Tagalog movie on the projector. I guess my teacher never showed up for class. Nonetheless we made a sign in sheet. I signed my name and after about 15 minutes of boredom, I decide that I should just leave class and get something done. So Normarie and Brian and I head out to the Grad fair taking place in the Old Gym. While I'm at school, might as well get this Graduation shit taken care of. Cap and Gown, tickets etc. We arrive at the Grad fair and are greeted to the longest line known to man. (Think Space Mountain @ Disneyland long, X 10) We have nothing else better to do so we wait it out. While in line, we just started talking to everyone around us. Finding out what their Majors are, what they're doing after college and so on. It was really intriguing to know what these other kids were going to do after they graduate. Some of them have jobs and internships lined up, others were going to go to grad school. We even found a student joining the peace corps and going to the African Congo mid July. Hearing these peoples stories made me realize how much of my life isn't really as planned out as I thought. Here I am, still searching on the threshold of the beginning of the rest of my life.

Anyways, we get through the line after about an hour. I buy my cap and gown and receive my God awful tassel which to my delight was a Salmon Pink/Peach color. Hurray for Econ majors. It looks horrendous. I also reserved my tickets for Graduation which was 11. I opted for the maximum just to be safe but I'm pretty sure I wont need nearly that many. Who in there right mind would want to go to an 8:00 AM graduation on a Sunday, which also happens to be fathers day? Honestly I wouldn't even go myself but I feel that its a one of those life moments we as kids have to give our parents. They paid for my education, the least I could do is show them that 4 years of my life didn't completely go to waste.

On a completely unrelated note, I've started running once again. These past few days have compelled me more to just get up out of the house once again and be active. Its kind of sad really, to see what my neighborhood has deteriorated to over the last 15 some years as I run along. The trash, pollution, brown lawns and graffiti. Just another day in Southridge.
